Why do you need my phone number to provide a free quote?

As each quote is bespoke I do need to have a quick chat with you over the phone first to discuss your requirements, explain how it all works, what it will cost, and answer any questions you may have. If my quote and the Squarespace billing are within your budget I’ll then email you an official itemised quote, along with all the runnings costs, so you have everything in writing.

Can we meet face-to-face?

While providing you with a quote over the phone and by email is much easier and faster, I do offer face-to-face meetings for clients based in Kent. However I do require a small deposit, which will be deducted from your quote. If you want to meet face-to-face please make sure to include your address when you get in touch.

Alternatively, I also offer free video calls over Zoom. If you prefer this option let me know when you request your quote.

How long will my quote be valid for?

All of my quotes are valid for 30 days. If you’re still in the early planning stages, I am happy to give you a rough price over the phone so you can see if my prices and the Squarespace billing are within your budget.

Do you require a deposit to get started?

Yes, I require a 50% deposit to get started. You pay the rest when you are happy with your new website and ready to go live. Don’t worry if you don’t like what I come up with, you’re not stuck with the first draft.

How do I pay the deposit?

My preferred method of payment is BANK TRANSFER, but I also accept CASH from local clients. I do not accept debit or credit card payments, and I am not VAT registered.

When you’re ready to get started let me know and I will send you an invoice. I send all of my invoices online via Wave, which you can view, download or print. Once I have received your payment I will send you a receipt, and this will update the online invoice to show it has been paid, along with the method and date of payment, so depending on how you do your accounts you may want to wait and download or print it then.

Will there be any extra costs added later?

All of the websites I design include a vast amount of custom CSS coding as standard, but when I present your first draft I may also recommend some optional premium CSS scripts I think will further enhance your website. If you choose to buy any these, the additional costs will be added to your final payment.

Also, if the number of pages/posts/products increases during the design process, or if you want to add a Squarespace product such as Scheduling or Online Courses, those additional costs will be added to your final payment.

Will you use the new Fluid Engine to design my website?

While the Fluid Engine is good for website designers, the drag and drop concept with separate mobile site is not very user-friendly, especially if you’re new to Squarespace. At present I design all of my websites using the Classic Editor 7.1 (aka Layout Editor) which is far more user-friendly and includes a built-in mobile site. If you would prefer I use the Fluid Engine to design your website please let me know when you request your quote, as this version comes with a higher design price.

How long will it take to see a first draft?

As each website I design is bespoke and includes a vast amount of custom coding as standard, it typically takes 1-2 weeks to design a first draft once I have received all of the content, although it can take longer depending on how busy I am. If you need your website to be designed within a certain timeframe please let me know when you request your quote.

What if I don’t like the first draft you present?

Don’t worry if you don’t like what I come up with, you’re not stuck with the first draft. You can request as many changes as you like or even have me start over from scratch if the design is a complete miss. You only pay the final payment when you are happy with your new website and ready to go live!

How can I send you the content?

The best way to send me content is via WeTransfer. It’s free and very easy to use on your computer or smartphone, and you don’t need to create an account to send files. This option allows you to send everything all at once, and even allows you to upload folders so the files remain organised. Alternatively you can email me your content as and when its ready.

I prefer all text to be in one or more Word documents if possible, and all images need to be sent separately in JPEG or PNG format, preferably in their original size. If you need stock images for your website I am happy to help you find and purchase them. Let me know when you request your quote.

Logo files can be sent in JPEG, PNG, PSD, EPS, AI or PDF format. If you don’t have a logo and would like me to design one for you, let me know when you request your quote.

If you need me to extract content from a website or from documents please let me know when you request your quote, as this might cost extra.

Can you help me register a domain and setup an email account?

Absolutely. I offer a free Zoom call to all of my clients to help register or transfer domains and setup email accounts. Using Zoom means you’ll be able to share your screen with me so I can talk you through the process. I can also help you choose a registrar (GoDaddy, IONOS, One.com etc) if you don’t have one in mind.

Alternatively if you would like me to manage your domains and emails for you let me know when you request your quote.

How do I connect my domain(s) to Squarespace?

When your new website is ready to go live I can help you connect your domain(s) to Squarespace. If you feel comfortable sharing your login details with me I’ll do it for you free of charge, or we can schedule a free Zoom call and I’ll talk you through the process. It can take up to 72 hours to connect a domain and process the SSL Certificate, but usually only takes a few hours.

Will I own the website?

Absolutely. When you’re ready to go live we will schedule a free Zoom call so I can give you administrator level access to the website. During the call I will talk you through how to accept the contributor invitation, create a Squarespace account (if you don’t have one already) and pay the Squarespace billing (with my discount). Then once you have paid my final payment invoice I will transfer ownership of the website to you, which means you have the power to remove my access at any time.

Will you work with someone outside of the UK?

Absolutely. As long as you can speak English I am more than happy to work with anyone, anywhere in the world. Although to provide you with a free quote our initial phone call with have to be over WhatsApp or Zoom. If you need your website to be available in multiple languages it is now possible with Squarespace’s Weglot integration. Let me know when you request your quote, as this comes with a higher design cost.

Can you update/redesign a Wordpress or Wix website?

While I am very familiar with those platforms, I have chosen to specialise in designing Squarespace websites only, as their platform is significantly more user-friendly for my clients. If you would like a free no obligation quote to have your website redesigned in Squarespace please get in touch.
